Hi! I'm Emily.
Welcome and thanks for visiting!
I'm a fifth-generation Idahoan and was raised in Southeast Boise's 1891 Joseph Chitwood house. Growing up, I envied my friends whose homes had a living room instead of a parlor, bedrooms with shag carpet instead of hardwood floors, and staircases that actually passed city building codes - though ours made for great sledding year-round. We had period furniture, appliances, and technology. This meant that our house, and everything in it, became a history lesson for anyone who visited. Growing up in an old house fundamentally shaped the way in which I experience the world - and continues to play a powerful role in my life.
My pursuit of history came as a surprise to no one - except for me. With time and experience, I discovered that sharing the past with others is my greatest passion. Above all else, I believe that building meaningful relationships is the most essential element of the historical research process.
